There are 3 types of shamisen; Hosozao, Chuzao, and Futozao. The size of their neck and the body are all slightly different.
However, all shamisen have the same structure and mechanism. And also the way to play, way to hold, and basic thought are all the same.
So you can play any genre by all kinds of shamisen.
Much like a traditional Japanese Kimono—crafted from a single bolt of fabric—can be taken apart by unpicking its seams and then resewn, the shamisen is an eco-friendly instrument that can be disassembled, allowing its individual parts to be repaired or replaced and the instrument restored to a condition as good as new.
We have listed pre-owned shamisens that are in relatively good condition, with the hope of lowering the initial costs for those looking to start playing and making it easier for more people to enjoy the instrument.
To keep the selling price low, we do not perform excessive restoration work. Please be fully aware that this is a pre-owned item with minor, everyday signs of use that do not affect its performance, and that it is not new.
